Photography of the Central West End neighborhood in St. Louis, MO.
Forest Park was developed in the late 1870s and quickly began to attract the wealthy of St. Louis, those looking to escape the bustle of the city. They found their way to the area now known as the Central West End. Today, the area is home to grand and lavish estates, more modest housing with attractive architectural details, newer high rise condominium and apartment complexes, the Chase Park Plaza Hotel and the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. The area is sandwiched between St. Louis University to the east and the Washington University Medical School campus and hospitals to the west. The Central West End is renowned for its architecture and culture, an artistic and bohemian style, as well as an abundance of dining and nightlife.
