Photography of the Carondelet neighborhood in St. Louis, MO

Carondelet is located in the extreme southeastern portion of St. Louis along the Mississippi River. The neighborhood was founded in 1767 by a Frenchman and was originally called "Delor's Village". The territory later passed from French to Spanish hands and was re-named for Baron Carondelet, the governor of the Spanish colony Upper Louisiana. Carondelet was incorporated as an independent city in 1851 and annexed by the city of St. Louis in 1870. You’ll find some of the oldest homes in St. Louis, made of local red brick, in this charming south St. Louis neighborhood. Source: Explore St. Louis and Wikipedia
