Forest Park and its attractions, St Louis, MO

Forest Park was dedicated on June 24, 1876, coinciding with the centenary of the United States Declaration of Independence. The Park's founders envisioned a park that "the rich and poor, the merchant and mechanic, the professional man and the day laborer, each with his family and lunch basket, can come and enjoy his own ... all without stint or hindrance ... and there will be no notice put up to 'Keep off the grass.'"

The 1,300-acre park still offers something for everyone, a nationally recognized Zoo, Art and History Museums, a Science Center and Planetarium, The Muny (an outdoor musical theatre), boating and dining experiences, golf courses, ice skating, sledding, fishing, golf courses, walking and bike paths… and more — all set in the background of a city oasis, a place to escape it all.
