Joshua Tree National Park is located in southern California, where the higher, cooler Colorado Desert (a part of the larger Sonoran Desert) and the lower, hotter Mojave Desert meet. With boundaries that stretch 60 miles, east to west, and 30 miles, north to south, the park contains hundreds of miles of hiking trails, diverse plants and animals, varying terrain with weather-sculpted rocks and canyons, and vast, arid land as far as the eye can see.
